Engine Pulse
Engine monitoring for piston aircraft

Know your engine before it tells you.

Engine Pulse reads the engine data your avionics already record. It checks every flight against the limits in your own POH, and it watches for the slow changes across flights that come before a problem.

Advisory only. Engine Pulse is not FAA-approved. It never replaces your POH/AFM, your engine monitor or your A&P, and the pilot in command remains responsible for the aircraft (14 CFR 91.3).

How it works

Three steps, then it runs after every flight.

Upload your POH and logs

Add your POH PDF and your engine log files, from a computer on this website or straight from your iPad or iPhone. The app reads the Section 2 engine limits from your POH, cross-checks them against any AFM supplement, then locks them.

Every flight is checked

Each flight is checked against those limits: RPM, CHT, oil temperature and pressure, bus voltage, and TIT and manifold pressure on turbo engines. You also get per-cylinder CHT and EGT, a cruise card, the run-up mag check and more.

Early warning across flights

Cruise values are corrected for outside air temperature and fuel flow and compared with your engine's own normal range. Shifts and slow drifts show up flights before they reach a limit.

In the app today

Everything your engine data can tell you.

These are all working in the current beta.

Engine health score

One number from 0 to 100 on HOME, built from your last 10 flights, with a trend arrow, a live pulse line and a breakdown of exactly what cost points.

After every flight

  • Limit checks against your POH
  • Per-cylinder CHT and EGT
  • Cruise card: TAS, power, fuel flow, nm/gal
  • Run-up mag check, valve watch, probe check
  • Takeoff and landing technique

Early warning

A baseline from your engine's own history, values corrected for OAT and fuel flow, and SHIFT and DRIFT detection. Sparklines on HOME show each value against its normal band.

Limits from your POH

Your POH PDF is read on the device. Section 2 limits come out with their page numbers and are cross-checked against AFM supplements, such as the Tornado Alley turbonormalizer, which govern where they differ. Then the profile locks.

Ask your manuals

ASK searches your POH and any manuals you upload, such as the Garmin pilot's guide, so the answer comes from your own documents.

AD check

FAA airworthiness directives from the Federal Register for your aircraft model, engine and propeller, with links to the FAA's Dynamic Regulatory System (DRS).

Maintenance

Service history, reminders and oil-change tracking, alongside the flights they relate to.

Easy uploads

Drop files on the upload website from any computer, with a slot for each document, or send them from the iPad or iPhone with Files, AirDrop or "Open in Engine Pulse".

Your account, every device

Sign in with email or with Apple. Flights, your aircraft profile, maintenance, reviews and event markers sync between your iPad and iPhone.

Engine health

A score you can check the math on.

Every point lost has a reason you can open. Reviewing an item doesn't change the score; flying within limits does.

What the colours mean

85–100Green · Healthy. Nothing that needs action.
70–84Yellow · Watch. Something is worth a look at your next opportunity.
< 70Red · Needs attention. Review the findings and talk to your A&P.

A trend arrow shows whether the score is improving, steady or declining.

How it's scored

Each flight starts at 100. Findings on that flight take points off, and newer flights count more than older ones.

FAQ

Questions pilots ask.

Is Engine Pulse FAA-approved?

No. Engine Pulse is an advisory tool. It doesn't replace your POH/AFM, your engine monitor or your A&P, and the pilot in command is responsible for the aircraft. Use it to notice things earlier and to have better conversations with your mechanic.

Which aircraft and avionics does it work with?

Piston aircraft whose avionics record Garmin CSV data logs: Cirrus Perspective, Perspective+, G1000 and G1000 NXi. Garmin TXi, GI 275 and G3X, JPI EDM, EI MVP and Avidyne are coming.

Why do you need my POH?

So every check uses your aircraft's real limits, not generic numbers. The app reads the Section 2 limits from your POH PDF on your device, notes the page each came from, and cross-checks them against any AFM supplement you upload. Where a supplement differs, the supplement governs.

Why is my aircraft profile locked?

Once the limits are read and checked, the profile locks so they can't be changed by accident. If something needs to change, such as an engine swap or a new STC, email support@fueledconsulting.com and we'll unlock it.

Where is my data stored, and who can see it?

Your account, flights and documents are stored with Supabase in the US (West, Oregon). Row-level security means each account can see only its own data. We don't show ads, track you or sell your data. Read the Privacy Policy for the details.

Do I need both an iPad and an iPhone?

No. Engine Pulse runs on either, with iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. If you use both, sign in with the same account and everything syncs.

What does it cost?

Free during the beta. After the App Store launch it's $14.99 a month after a 15-day free trial, billed through Apple. You can cancel any time in Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before renewal.

Can I upload wirelessly from the airplane?

Not yet. Garmin flyGarmin / PlaneSync and AirSync uploads are planned and depend on partner approval. Today you upload from a computer on the upload page or from your iPad or iPhone.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open ACCOUNT and choose Delete account. That deletes your data from the cloud as well. See Support for more.
